Ergonomic Assessments

MHC's Occupational Therapists specialize in ergonomic assessments. They can assess a workplace for its design, processes, resources and employees to maximize the efficiency of a workplace while ensuring that the job demands never exceed the physical or cognitive limitations of the workers.

When exposed to collaborative learning and sharing of ideas increased creativity and innovation in work processes can result.

The assessment includes job demands analysis and workplace accommodation analysis to recommend any of the following modifications:

  • Modifications in physical layout customized to the work place (e.g. office, manufacturing, heavy industry)
  • Ergonomic tools and equipment
  • Modifications in work methods
  • Job Rotation
  • Changes in environmental factors

We also conduct Lunch and Learn seminars where the positive impact of these seminars is multi-faceted. Firstly, they offer opportunities through collaborative tasks to develop understanding and open communication between the participants who may be comprised of individuals who cut across work departments, work units and organizational structures. Lunch and Learns provide an opportunity for people with varying levels of knowledge and skill sets to come together around a common interest and desire to learn. Participants learn about a topic but also about the resources and assets that exist in their staff. Furthermore, they help in building a sense of workplace community. Through shared participation in learning around a common topic of interest and welcomed sharing of differing or unique personal perspectives, ideas and values, work relationships can be forged that are characterized by personal engagement and a sense of mutual respect. When exposed to collaborative learning and sharing of ideas increased creativity and innovation in work processes can result. Valuable workplace social networking is another benefit. It too encourages collaboration by building stronger work relationships among employees which can lead to a growth in expertise and quality of work performance.

Apart from that, we also follow the train the trainer model, in which experienced professionals give meaningful advice and assistance to less experienced instructors. These are usually revolved around helping the instructors in gaining more knowledge about conducting and delivering seminars and workshops. These sessions are aimed at preparing the instructors for better and more result oriented outputs in the future.
